OMG, I am actually WOW’d by my hair lately. I no longer need to wear headbands to hide my “weird hairline”!! I’ve been snipping the straight ends off since I’ve been in transition and my “bangs” are finally long and curly.
My hair is still loving KCCC and Giovanni Direct Leave In. Other than that, no new updates. I no longer want to relax my hair, ever! I no longer wish my hair looked like someone elses. My hair is finding it’s happy place and curling and growing.
I LOVE MY HAIR (I have never, ever said that! EVER)

I often get asked what training for a fitness competition involves…I’ve been down that road a few years ago and I admit I miss it. It was hard work, took 150% discipline, and I looked amazing. I want that body back, I have wanted it back for some time now. The training is only half of it, though 2-a-days were not uncommon for me. Diet (eating clean) was #1 priority and I consumed a lot of protein shakes, tofu, brown rice, and veggies. I competed in the fitness division so I had to work extra hard on gaining skills & endurance, not only diet & training to sculpt the perfect body!
Monday – Back & Chest
Tuesday – Full Body Strength & Conditioning
Wednesday – Rest
Thursday – Biceps, Triceps, abs
Friday – Legs
Saturday – Shoulders
Sunday – Complete rest from all training
1 Yoga class OR 1 Pilates class per week ; Gymnastics/fitness drills 1-2 times per week
Besides diet & training, I also had to pay for competition entry fees; competition bikini, competition outfit, choreography, music, travel, hotel, the list goes on. BUT I had so much fun. The successful girls even get magazine covers in Oxygen! I have yet to compete nationally, but it is a big time goal.
My obstacle is finding a way to train on days I work in the ER. Should I hit weights before work? Or after work? Or do I need to do cardio? AHHH!

I have a new found obsession with skin and cellulite. Maybe it is because I have recently turned the big 30! I feel great and I love it when people don’t believe I am 30…I think becoming vegetarian has a lot to do with it. I am trying to research ways to PREVENT fine lines and wrinkles during this decade. I read vitamin C and retinol creams are supposed to help prevent the fight against time…the search for a product is on!
As for cellulite, I am going to continue dry brushing and cellulite cream and working out, but I feel that no matter what I do, it won’t go away. I am thinking about competing in fitness again, so I need to figure something out if I am going to wear a bikini!!

I had a sudden urge to snip off some of my straight ends on Monday. I am amazed at how quickly my hair has grown in only a year & 4 months. Now that it is curlier, the growth isn’t as evident as when it is straight. It has been so humid and hot, I don’t want to bother straightening right now, I am also way to lazy.
I am contemplating on adding some color to my hair. I want to go a couple shades lighter. I did notice my ends split last time I colored, I did a lot of S &D to get rid of them but I am bored with my hair and I refuse to cut it!!
I have neglected scalp treatments and deep conditioning for a few weeks…time to get back into the groove!!

I had one of the best curly days of my life.
1. Deep condition-I used nexxus moisture conditioner, and added LustraSilk Shea mango cholesterol on top. I put on a plastic cap for a few hours.
2. Wash: Shampooed with Giovanni 50:50, then conditioned with two conditioners mixed together (Mills Creek Aloe & Giovanni Tea tree). Rinsed it out, and did a “ honey” rinse.
3. Put the plastic cap back on to let the steam penetrate.
4. Leave in conditioners: Giovanni Direct Leave In, less Biosilk gel mixed with Carols daughter hair butter. Dabbed a tiny bit of castor oil on the ends and left my hair alone. I didn’t even plop.
The shine was amazing, curls were defined and I had no frizz!

Happy one year anniversary to me, being relaxer free! I have noticed amazing growth when I had it professionally straightened at the salon. Last year at this time, I had shoulder length straight hair, it is now almost BSL!! It is pretty obvious the top of my hair is growing SUPER slower than the bottom half but I am proud I held out for one year. I still do not plan to BC, it look like I have an inch or 2 of relaxed ends so no need for a chop, but I got my ends dusted. I love how healthy it looks when it is straight now, wish it could be like this forever (obviously, I am in the “I want straight hair” phase, it comes and goes). I also got highlights and got my old highlights covered, but they aren’t obvious…I wanted something that popped, but maybe I will do something more dramatic for my birthday next month!

This product has been on my wish list for quite some time. I made a random trip to CVS and found it!
Yesterday, I cowashed with Suave, conditioned with Giovanni (rinse out conditioner), applied a leave in conditioner, then added Long Aid, plopped, and went to work. Not too sure if I like it yet, maybe when I cut off ALL relaxed ends, it will work better because some of my ends hung straight. Maybe I need to eliminate the leave in, and apply the Long Aid along with a holding gel?! Today, I cowashed with Suave, eliminated the rinse out and only applied the leave in, followed by Long Aid. I’m plopping right now…we shall see!

I conquered my auditions. Looking at some of the photos, I don’t look like a dancer. I lost a few pounds for the big audition but I’ve got to get back into fitness dancer shape. I know it won’t happen overnight but if I give myself a deadline, I can make some changes before the season begins. My target date is May 27.
THE PLAN: Dance + fitness + diet.
DANCE: Dancing really detresses my mind because the focus is on me and developing technique, performance, and picking up choreography…all while getting in an amazing workout. Dance practice will replace studio classes but I will try to take a technique class on the weekend or use my Ballet DVD (see image)!!

FITNESS: I work 3 days a week so the other 4 days, I have no excuse. I may even workout twice on those days, doing cardio in the morning and weights in the evening (or vice versa if I have practice or plan on going to a studio class). I don’t want to wear myself out on work days so I plan on doing 10-20 minutes of activity (pilates, yoga, plies/releves). I will buy 10 minute solutions DVD so I can have a variety of workouts.
DIET: I am going to eat clean. It is easy for me to do this at home, but when I am at work in the ER, I drink diet cola, eat sour candy, crave fries or potato chips. I need to make sure I keep my fridge and cabinet full of healthy foods, and healthy snacks that will kill a craving (Crystal Light lemonade to quench my sour candy craving). I am bumping up my water intake, aiming for 3-4L a day. I noticed my skin cleared up by doing this. I will continue taking my vitamins, flax seed oil, and GNC Ultra Nourishair.
BEAUTY: I have to focus on my skin (face and body), hair, teeth whitening, and nails (keeping it smple-clear polish with short, even nails).
SKIN:
Face-I need to do an at-home facial treatment once a week (exfoliate, steam, mask). I also love St Ives apricot scrub, I apply in the shower a couple times a week. I’ve been good about eye cream, moisturizing, and using my serums. I can’t decide if I want to use the Dermawand daily or less.
Body-I’ve been back on the Nivea cellulite gel for a few weeks, I use it on my thighs and abs. I got my Delfin cellulite shorts, so I plan on using those throughout April! I’ve been using Vaseline renewal lotion (contains collagen and pro-retinol) all over with hopes it will tighten up the skin. Smells nice and feels great on skin so it is a keeper.
TEETH: Crest white strips are awesome! I used them religously before audition, but I will finish the box and perhaps get more in May.
HAIR: DT 1-2x a week, wash and go, and no heat unless I straighten. I quit using the diffuser awhile ago, and my hair has less frizz.
Cheers!!

I finally ordered this product because I will straighten my hair for an upcoming wedding at the beginning of April. Additionally, I plan on straightening a few times this summer when I take the ‘stage’ and dance again (sweat + humidity = disaster). This products states it can help prevent reversion. FINALLY!
I plan on straightening April 2, using my Maxiglide and Sabino serum… so we shall see how it goes!!
UPDATE: Still loving the plopping method. I alternate between BRHG and Kinky Curly products. I am not a fan of Giovanni gel anymore (flaked, maybe I used too much), but still LOVE their Direct Leave in! I will continue to DT once a week, probably bump it up to twice a week this summer since I will straighten for performances. I’m still on track with my vitamins! I’m hoping for APL by May.
ETA: I tried it on the most rainy weekend possible. I used Bumble & Bumble straightener, Treseme’ heat protectant, then blow dried my hair. I flat ironed with Maxi Glide and added Sabino to finish it off. My hair frizzed the 1st day (Wednesday) but calmed down the following days…after applying more Sabino. By Saturday, my hair was fabulous for a wedding, and I washed it out. I will definitely use it again because I paid way too much not to!
